Machine Embroidered Christmas Trees

These Machine Embroidered Christmas Trees used
soluble plastic as a background to draw the tree design
on and then a layer of sheer organza in the chosen colour
behind that. Put in an Embroidery Hoop it was then
free machined. The plastic is then dissolved away
and then hung on a thread to act as a decoration.
Looks fantastic in a window.

Ohio Star Christmas Runner

We have been making star blocks for the last
eight months. this is a Christmas Table Runner
using The Ohio Star Block. This runner is also reverse able.

Music Christmas Wreaths

Jenn came home for a break and booked into the studio
to make these paper origami wreaths and ornaments for gifts.
The music just looks so good.

Teddy Block Gift Bag

Lots of us have printed blocks in our stash
and sometimes we ask the question,
"What am I going to use this in?"
The pictures are lovely but coming up with
something other than a quilt or piece of patchwork.
Sandra needed gifts to donate to a church sale
raising money for homeless charities.
She fell in love with the blocks and wanted to use them.
She made several gift bags just 7" square and
they turned out adorable.

Christmas Origami Draw String Bag

Just loved making this origami draw string bag.
made out of two 17" squares and then it's the way you
fold and sew that gives you the bag.
I used christmas ribbon to draw up the top.
Christmas star decorations sewn on the front
and back flaps.

Star Christmas Pouch

I love making gifts out of things left overs
 from other projects.
We had been using canvas and lace and so by
sewing them together and
adding a Christmas Star, tinsel, Christmas
fir ribbon cones and some glitter
a little gift bag was made.
ideal for a small present, to hang on the tree
or a fund raiser.

Paper Twisted Star

Made from six four inch squares and it is the way
you twist the cuts and stick the squares together that make
the star.
there are you tube videos showing the technique.

Christmas Cotton Reel Tassels

In the studio we have been collecting empty
cotton reel bobbins since the beginning of the ear.
Wood, plastic and a variety of colours and sizes.
It was a great time to put them into good use and
make tassels with them.
The cotton reel was decorated with music paper and
 various trimmings and beads.
Multiple threads were wound around a book and wired
into the cotton reel.
So effective!

Lace Wreath of the Month

One of the art challenges for 2014 was to make a Wreath for
every month of the year to remember that month and
link it to the creativity that was going on in the studio.
As you can see, this wreath was all made out of lace, nets, gauze, beads and crochet.
Some of the flowers were made by Eileen.
I taught myself how to make different crochet flowers
but not like Eileen's!
Eileen crocheted flowers and then snowflakes.
These were sold in the studio for our local hospice.

Making Christmas Ornaments

Several Ladies Groups have taken the opportunity
of booking into the studio for a 'Make It' afternoon.
This is where we make to sell on a stall to
raise money for their charity.
Usually in two and a half hours we can make quite
a lot, as above.
It's good if the group knows what items they want to make
and bring along the ingredients and then make an
assemble line.
It really focuses the creative mind especially
those who haven't made crafts before to sell.
It's so much fun to:))

Miniature Rossette Music Ornaments

These are so made with cones of paper in this case
old music books that we are recycling
in the studio.
Additions of lace, buttons and string.
Hundreds of them have been made and for
many different occasions.
Great to put on a gifts and then have as an
ornament.

Red and White Father Christmas Wall Hanging

I love Red and White Embroidery and this was really lovely to make.
The red embroidery is chain stitch.
Cutting the reindeer fabric so that it fitted in the borders took
a bit of working out.
